I really enjoyed reading this outstanding poetry collection and learnt a lot from it about Indian culture, history, philosophy, religion and life in general. Its portrayal of different cultures within India and Scotland is fascinating and unique in my experience and the title poem perfectly illustrates that.
I also liked its combination of poems about the Earth such as Mother Earth and Mango and about social life such as Slumdog (a vivid, visceral poem), Resolve and Baby Girl. Some poems beautifully combine both, like Vermillion and Village River (a particular favourite of mine along with Dust). The way the author brings together past and present is also very effective in poems such as Darkest Hour which offers an alternative, humorous take on Winston Churchill.
These poems display a wisdom and maturity about life which is very rare. I highly recommend this.
